Le Mas ~ Vineyard

Nestled at the foothills of the Barossa Ranges and located in the small village of Rowland Flat—made famous as the birthplace of Barossa Wine making by William Jacob in 1847—are some of the oldest Grenache vines in the world, pre dating 1935. 

Grenache was originally planted in the early years to produce fortified wine, a popular variety in the 19th century. At the turn of the 20th century Grenache was used to produce the wine as we enjoy it today. It is a robust grape perfectly suited for the Barossa environment.

Le Mas single vineyard Bush Vine Grenache is created by hand with the love and attention it deserves. The 3 acres of vines that grow on the property produce anywhere between 6 to 8 tonnes, most of which is provided to the long established Rockford Winery on Krondorf Road, located less than 5 minutes from Le Mas.  

Rockford is committed to keeping original Australian wine traditions alive. Like Rockford—who continue to basket press their wine—Le Mas is committed to preserving the growing traditions by hand pruning and hand picking every vintage to preserve the integrity of each vine.
